Hi everyone, I’m a new Society member but I’ve had a long time interest in Erector/Meccano. I’m hoping for some advice on selling my large collection in one lot (370 Erector/Meccano sets and 735 additional groups of items).

My collection was a passion project started in 2006. I spent the next 10 years collecting, cataloging, and sorting while convalescing from serious health issues. With every box that arrived at my home I relived the excitement of my first experience with the wonder of building projects with steel. The heft of the box, smell of the steel, the teeny tiny instruction diagrams, and hundreds of parts still set my mind spinning to a different time and place. My hopes were to rebuild sets. I liked all the sets from every period. As a student of the steel building sets I marveled how the product evolved through the century due to social and economic changes in the world.

As the sets changed over time, so did my life. Thankfully my health improved, kids grew-up, and we downsized to a small retirement community. I don’t want the collection to turn into a pile of rust. I’m hoping to find another Erector/Meccano lover to take over my beloved collection. What I am hoping for is someone to use the collection to perpetuate the excitement and history of the product.

I spent the last few months taking photos of every item and creating a spreadsheet that lists everything. I have included a link to my google drive here for anyone that would like to see:

I would greatly appreciate any advice members might have. I am ultimately far more interested in the collection going to the best place to bring most enjoyment rather than getting a dollar value.
Thanks in advance for any ideas/advice!
