“Discovering” Series Sets

Dan writes: These sets are like little mini versions of the larger, more elaborate sets in the Gilbert toy line. For example, the Discovering Light set is a bare-bones version of the 15100 Physics set. I have six of these sets in my collection, as follows:
- 15013 Discovering Light
- 15014 Discovering Simple Machines
- 15015 Discovering Force and Motion
- 15067 Microscope (the only set they didn’t use the word “Discovering”)
- 15080 Discovering Magnetism
- 15081 Discovering Electricity
The 15014 and 15015 are really just mini Erector sets. They both use standard Erector parts. As far as I know, there were just these six sets in the line. I have been searching for many years and have never turned up any other than these six. These sets do not appear in any Gilbert catalog I have, although all the instruction sheets were copyrighted in 1964.
